Dr. Hanson to lead division of medical nutrition education

Corrine Hanson, Ph.D., Leuschen Professor for Advancing Research in the Allied Health Sciences in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions, is the new director for the college's Division of Medical Nutrition Education.

Glenda Woscyna is stepping down after a 20-year tenure as director. Dr. Hanson assumes the new role April 1.

NFHC Office Glows Red for Glow Big Red Day

Smart cookies: Media day puts food-related experts at forefront

Reporters seeking soundbites on sound bites — especially their agricultural, genetic, biochemical and psychological influences — assembled at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Food Innovation Center for its second annual Research Media Day.

Patterned after the media days traditionally held on the gridiron, hardwood or diamond, the Jan. 29 event gave reporters access to three highly ranked Husker teams and an emerging star who all focus on what fuels the athlete and non-athlete alike: food.

FHSS Presenter Donates Carbon Offsets in the Name of NFHC

January 16th, 2020

            The Nebraska Food for Health Center has received special recognition from a company called Terrapass. Thanks to the generous donation by Dr. Dan Knights, 100,200 lbs of carbon offsets have been purchased in the name of the Nebraska Food for Health Center. These carbon offsets will be used to fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

More Collaborative Than a Barrel of Monkeys

In its fourth decade, UNO’s Callitrichid Research Center is strengthening research collaborations and exploring new questions about what marmosets can tell us about ourselves. 

Tucked behind an unassuming door in Allwine Hall, a small team of researchers and about 20 student volunteers care for, watch and learn from a colony of more than 80 marmoset monkeys.
